CASAS-CUEVA® is a new and unique Rural Tourism Company which over the last 10 years has renovated many of the caves houses around the historic village of Galera, in the North East of Granada province in Andalucia. They were renovated to offer holiday accommodation to the Spanish who love the coziness of the caves. They have been very successful and we are very privileged to be able to offer some for sale.

This village/town is a welcome relief from the Costa's and ideal for those who love the real Spain and Spanish way of life, gentle and generous, the people live in the very slow lane. There are all the amenities in the village such as two bakeries, two small supermarkets, butcher and several bars. No English is really spoken but there is never a problem being understood. Any effort to speak Spanish will be highly rewarded. The village is easily accessible from Alicante, Almeria, Murcia and Malaga airports where the budget airlines fly in frequently. The roads are wonderful and driving a pleasure. Set in the High Plateau among several mountain ranges, Natural Parks and areas of great beauty and dramatic scenery. Including La Sagra, Cazorla, Castril´s Natural Park, Baza and Maria-Los Vélez (Almeria). In the valley of two rivers there are plentiful remains of ancient civilizations (Agarics Archaeological deposit, Ibero-Roman necropolis (cemetery) of Tútugi). The Casas – Cueva® (cave-houses) have been a feature of the area for hundreds of years and are a logical solution to living in an area that can experience extremes in temperature. Set in a hillside overlooking the town most of the caves have wonderful views over the dramatic surrounding countryside to the mountains.

They are spacious, light and airy and naturally waterproof with a constant temperature of approximately 18° C, and fully equipped and furnished. They consist of 1 - 4 bedrooms, living room with wood fireplace, dining room plus kitchen and bathroom. Hot running water is constantly available from  a central boiler house and the pressure gives a "power shower" Some caves have "Jacuzzi" baths. Wood is supplied for the fires daily. Satellite TV is wired in and all caves have ventilation systems integrated into them.

RENTAL INCOME

The caves are very good value compared with similar sized villas on the coast and in addition make a good investment as they can provide a rental income via the management company who can rent them out when you are not there. The Spanish love them Winter and Summer.
